Gazanou beach is a coastal destination located on the northern shores of the Heraklion prefecture, in the Ammoudara area.

Geographically, it is situated west of Heraklion city, forming part of the extensive sandy coastline that stretches along the Gulf of Heraklion.

The landscape is characterized by a long sandy beach with an open horizon toward the Cretan Sea. A unique geomorphological feature of the beach is the mouth of a small river or stream that crosses the shore before flowing into the sea.

Access is very easy via the urban and suburban road network, with streets leading directly to the coast. Due to its proximity to the residential area, the region is highly developed for tourism.

The wider area provides complete infrastructure for visitors, including numerous tourist rentals, hotel units, and dining options. The beach is organized with facilities for swimmers, and lifeguard services are also available in the area.
