Gerokampos Beach is located in southern Crete, west of the settlement of Lentas and the Diskos area.
It is an extensive, open beach washed by the Libyan Sea and surrounded by the characteristic arid and wild landscape of the region. The shore features fine sand and small pebbles, while its waters are crystal clear and deep.
Access to Gerokampos is relatively easy, as it is connected via a dirt road to Diskos and Lentas. The route offers panoramic views of the coastline and leads to an environment that remains less crowded than the main beach of Lentas, providing more space and quiet for visitors.
Regarding organization, Gerokampos is an unorganized beach. There are no umbrellas or sunbeds; however, its large size makes it ideal for those seeking seclusion and for free camping enthusiasts who frequent the broader area. Visitors should carry their own water and food supplies, although tavernas and cafes are available nearby in Diskos. The beach is also known for the sense of freedom it provides, being one of the favorite spots for those seeking an authentic experience on the southern coast of Heraklion.
