Karavopetra Beach is located in southeastern Crete, in the wider Xerokampos area near Sitia, within the Lasithi region.
It is one of the lesser-known beaches of the area, maintaining a quiet and relatively secluded character.
The beach takes its name from the distinctive rock formations that resemble a ship (“karavi”), which dominate the landscape and create a unique coastal setting. The shoreline is mainly covered with pebbles and stones, while the waters are clear and deep, with strong transparency.
The surrounding environment is open and rugged, with sparse vegetation and prominent rocky features, typical of the Xerokampos coastline. The area is exposed to winds, which can often affect sea conditions.
There are no organized facilities or services, and access is via a dirt road that leads close to the beach. The lack of development helps preserve its natural and untouched character.
Karavopetra is a more alternative choice for visitors seeking quiet and an authentic landscape, forming part of the wider network of less frequented beaches in southeastern Crete.
