Katalyki Beach is the main coastal front of the town of Tymbaki in southern Crete.
It is a vast sandy shore stretching along the Messara Bay, starting from the settlement of Kokkinos Pirgos to the north and extending down to Afrathias Beach to the south.
The landscape at Katalyki is defined by an immense expanse of fine sand and the crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea. Due to its open orientation, the beach is frequently exposed to western winds, making it a favorite for those who enjoy dynamic sea conditions, while its great width ensures ample space for visitors even during peak months.
Access to the beach is exceptionally easy, as it is directly connected to the town of Tymbaki via the road network passing through the areas of Aspri Petra and Gavgiotissa. Furthermore, its proximity to significant landmarks, such as the Archaeological Site of Agia Trias and Phaistos, makes it an ideal destination for combining relaxation with cultural exploration.
Regarding organization, Katalyki is a fully organized beach. Along the shore, particularly towards Kokkinos Pirgos, visitors can find numerous tavernas, cafes, umbrellas, and sunbeds. Despite its tourist development, the beach retains a sense of freedom due to its scale, while offering all modern amenities for families and travelers alike.
