Kounenoi Beach is one of the most isolated and pristine coastal pockets in southern Crete, nestled at the base of the rugged Asterousia Mountains.

Geographically, it is located west of Martsalos Beach and the Martsalioitiko Gorge, serving as the last significant shore before Cape Lithino and "The southernmost beach on Crete".

It is a small, protected cove with crystal-clear waters and a coastline characterized by the natural beauty of the Libyan Sea. The surrounding landscape is typical of the region: arid, with imposing cliffs and low vegetation, offering a sense of absolute freedom and connection with nature.

Access to Kounenoi is difficult, as the area is not connected to the paved road network. Visitors can reach the beach either via demanding dirt roads starting from the Odigitria Monastery or, more commonly, by boat from Kaloi Limenes or Lentas.

Regarding organization, the beach is completely unorganized. There are no facilities, shade, or dining options, making full autonomy regarding water and supplies essential. Due to its seclusion, it is an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility far from civilization and for snorkeling enthusiasts, as the rocky seabed is of great interest.
