Pahia Ammos Beach forms the northern section of the long coastal front stretching before the settlement of Kalamaki in southern Crete.
Geographically, it is situated between Afrathias Beach to the north and the village of Kalamaki to the south.
The area's landscape is unique, characterized by an extensive sand hill located just behind the shoreline, lending a wild and pristine beauty to the environment. The beach is spacious with fine sand, and its waters are crystal clear, though they are often affected by the western winds prevalent in the region.
Access to Pahia Ammos is very easy, as it is located close to the Tymbaki-Kalamaki regional road and connects directly to the settlement's coastal road. Due to its proximity to Kalamaki, visitors have easy access to numerous tourist facilities.
Regarding organization, the beach is partially organized. While the section near Kalamaki offers amenities (umbrellas, sunbeds, cafes), the northern part towards Afrathias remains quieter and more secluded, ideal for those seeking relaxation and contact with the natural sand dune landscape.
