Platanakia Beach is one of the most isolated and pristine coastal destinations in western Crete, offering a setting of wild natural beauty.

Geographically, it is located on the western coast of the Chania Prefecture, south of Sfinari and situated between the capes of Akra Korakas and Akra Ponta.

The landscape is characterized by the rugged charm of the surrounding rocks and the pristine, crystal-clear waters of the sea. The atmosphere at Platanakia remains exceptionally serene and authentic, as the beach is little known to the general public, making it an ideal refuge for those seeking total tranquility away from any tourist development.

Access to the beach is relatively difficult, requiring driving on a dirt road that begins from the wider area of the Sfinari settlement. Regarding organization, Platanakia is a completely unorganized beach with no infrastructure whatsoever; therefore, visitors must be fully prepared with water and necessary supplies. It administratively belongs to the Chania Prefecture and is one of the most atmospheric and untouched spots on the western coastline.
