Psili Ammos Beach is one of the most beautiful and unique beaches in southern Crete, located between the settlements of Kaloi Limenes and Lentas.
As its name suggests, its main feature is the fine, golden sand covering the shore, surrounded by an impressive backdrop of sand dunes and a few tamarisk trees.
Geographically, Psili Ammos is situated east of Platia Peramata beach and west of Gerokampos and Limanaki. Its waters are crystal clear, shallow at the start, and usually very calm, making it ideal for families and those seeking a "softer" shore experience compared to the mostly pebbly beaches of the Asterousia range.
Access to the beach is relatively easy via the road network connecting the inland villages (such as Antiskari) to the southern coast. The road is largely paved, making it more accessible than the neighboring secluded shores.
Regarding organization, Psili Ammos is partially organized. While it retains its pristine charm, some basic amenities can be found during the summer months, and in the broader area (especially towards Platia Peramata and Kaloi Limenes), there are tavernas and accommodations available. It is a destination that combines exotic beauty with relative comfort, making it a favorite spot for locals and travelers exploring southern Heraklion.
