Roussospasma Beach is located in the Xerokampos area, in southeastern Crete, within the Lasithi region.
It is one of the most remote and lesser-known beaches of the area, situated at the eastern edge of the Xerokampos coastline and formed inside a narrow, enclosed bay.
Access is not direct, as it requires a short hike of approximately 15 minutes from the nearby beach of Krinakia or via a rough and sometimes demanding path. Certain sections of the route require attention due to the terrain.
Roussospasma stands out for the reddish rock formations that surround the beach, from which it takes its name (“roussos” meaning red). The landscape is particularly striking, with strong geological contrasts and rugged coastal features. The shoreline is mainly covered with pebbles, while the waters are clear and deep, displaying intense blue hues. The small bay offers natural shelter from the winds, often resulting in relatively calm sea conditions.
There are no organized facilities, and the combination of isolation and limited access keeps visitor numbers low. As a result, the beach maintains a distinctly natural and unspoiled character, appealing to those seeking quiet and a more authentic coastal environment.
Roussospasma is part of the wider network of small and diverse beaches of Xerokampos, an area known for its varied coastline and strong natural identity.
