Skinos Beach is one of the lesser-known but particularly charming destinations in southern Crete, situated at the western edge of Plakias Bay.
Geographically, it is located right between the main settlement of Plakias and Souda beach, nestled beneath the steep hills that characterize the area's landscape. It is a small and relatively secluded cove, offering a peaceful alternative to the large and bustling main beach.
The landscape is characterized by a combination of sand and pebbles, while the waters are crystal clear and usually very calm, as the bay is protected from strong winds. One of the most distinctive features of the beach is the rocky formations at its edges, which are ideal for snorkeling. The presence of trees near the shore provides natural shade, enhancing the sense of tranquility and contact with the natural environment.
Access is very easy, as the beach is located right next to the coastal road connecting Plakias with Souda. Despite its proximity to the settlement, Skinos maintains a more low-key character and is less organized than the surrounding shores, attracting those who seek peace without moving far from the area's amenities. It is an ideal destination for a quick escape to a landscape that combines the rugged beauty of the rocks with the serenity of the Libyan Sea.
