Sougia Beach is one of the most beloved and unique destinations in southern Crete, known for the sense of freedom it offers.

Geographically, it is located on the shores of the Libyan Sea, west of Agia Roumeli and east of Paleochora, at the exit of the impressive Agia Irini Gorge.

The landscape is characterized by the vast extent of the shore, which features pristine, deep waters and coarse pebbles. The beach is surrounded by high mountains that meet the sea, while on its eastern side, there are rocky formations and caves. The atmosphere in Sougia remains exceptionally relaxed and alternative, maintaining a character reminiscent of past decades, which makes it ideal for those seeking peace and authenticity away from intense modernization.

Access is easy by road via the provincial network crossing the White Mountains, while Sougia is also connected by sea with regular boat services to Chora Sfakion, Loutro, Agia Roumeli, and Paleochora. Regarding organization, Sougia is a partially organized beach, offering umbrellas and sunbeds in one section, while the namesake settlement provides numerous infrastructures for accommodation and food. It administratively belongs to the Chania Prefecture and remains a destination that combines natural beauty with a unique sense of hospitality.
