Tersanas Beach is one of the most charming and "hidden" coastal destinations on the western side of the Akrotiri peninsula.
Geographically, it is located in a small, sheltered cove near the village of Chorafakia, approximately 13 kilometers from Chania city, tucked away in a natural bay.
The landscape is characterized by a closed cove with fine sand and crystal-clear, turquoise waters that are extremely shallow, making the beach one of the most ideal choices for families with young children. The terrain's morphology provides complete protection from northern winds, ensuring calm seas even when surrounding shores are wavy. The area is surrounded by rocky formations and low vegetation, maintaining a sense of tranquility and natural beauty.
Access is easy via the road network passing through Chorafakia, with the road ending at a small parking area right next to the sand. At the northern part of the shore, the Agiofaraggo Gorge (of Akrotiri) concludes, adding a special geological interest to the location.
In terms of organization, Tersanas features umbrellas and sunbeds covering most of its small area, as well as lifeguard services. Despite its limited size, the beach is very popular among local residents of Chania, while the few surrounding accommodation and dining options offer an authentic and high-quality recreational experience.
