Vayu Beach is one of the coastal destinations located on the southeastern side of the Kolokitha Peninsula, in the wider Elounda area.

Geographically, it is situated south of the main Kolokitha beach, on a section of the coastline washed by Mirabello Bay.

The landscape is defined by the natural beauty of the peninsula, featuring crystal-clear waters and pristine surrounding terrain. The area around the beach lacks residential development or organized tourist infrastructure, maintaining a quiet and secluded character compared to the busier spots of Elounda.

In the wider area, north of the beach, interesting natural formations such as the Little Underwater Cave and the Cave of Barbarossa can be found, while Dianiskari Beach extends to the west. Access to Vayu is primarily via trails crossing the peninsula or by boat, making it an ideal choice for those seeking contact with the raw Cretan landscape.
