Viena Beach is one of the most unique and historical destinations in southwestern Crete, known for its ancient heritage and pristine beauty.
Geographically, it is located on the shores of the Libyan Sea, west of Krios beach, along the E4 European trail that connects Paleochora with Elafonisi.
The landscape is characterized by a small, sheltered cove with crystal-clear waters, surrounded by rocks and the ruins of the ancient city of Viena. The atmosphere at the beach is unique, as visitors can see scattered ancient columns and parts of structures both on the shore and underwater, offering a sense of an "open-air museum" within nature.
Access to Viena is possible only via trail or by boat, as there is no road connection reaching the coast. The hike from Krios beach takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes following the E4 trail markings. Regarding organization, Viena is a completely unorganized beach, preserving its historical and natural character intact. It administratively belongs to the Chania Prefecture and is a favorite destination for lovers of archaeology and isolation.
