Voulisma Beach is one of the most iconic coastal destinations in the Kalo Chorio and Istron area, located a few kilometers south of Agios Nikolaos.
Geographically, it is situated in a stunning bay washed by the waters of Mirabello, and it is widely known for its white sand and turquoise, crystal-clear waters, which have earned it the nickname "Golden Beach".
The landscape is defined by the striking contrast between the turquoise sea and the lush Cretan terrain surrounding the shore. The beach is highly organized and extensive, directly adjoining the Istro Municipal Beach (Δημοτική Παραλία Ίστρου) at its eastern end. Due to its unique morphology, the area offers excellent conditions for water activities, with the northern edge of the bay serving as an ideal spot for snorkeling and underwater exploration.
Access to Voulisma is exceptionally easy, as the beach runs parallel to the main road axis (E75) connecting Agios Nikolaos with Ierapetra and Sitia. The area surrounding the coast features developed tourist infrastructure, with numerous apartment complexes and holiday units built amphitheatrically on the nearby hills, offering panoramic views of the bay.
