Xeropotamos beach is a coastal destination located on the northern shores of the Heraklion prefecture, on the western outskirts of Heraklion city.

Geographically, it is situated where the urban zone meets the coastline of the Cretan Sea.

The landscape is characterized by an extensive sandy beach with an open horizon. The main geomorphological feature of the location is the mouth of the river of the same name (Xeropotamos), which crosses the area and flows into the sea, dividing the shore into sections.

Access is very easy, as the beach is located very close to the area's main road and the Northern Road Axis of Crete (E90). The local road network leads directly to the shore, making it a popular destination for the city's residents and visitors.

The wider area provides infrastructure serving the needs of swimmers, as well as marine and sports equipment stores. Due to its location, the beach combines easy access from the center of Heraklion with the natural element of the river mouth.
