Prasonisi Artemis is a small islet located in southwestern Crete, just a short distance from Elafonisi, in the wider region of Chania. It is a subtle yet distinctive feature of the coastal landscape in this part of the island.

The islet is characterized by its low relief and sparse vegetation, which gives it its name, “Prasonisi” (meaning “green islet”). It is surrounded by shallow, crystal-clear waters, with a mix of sandy and rocky formations that create a calm and open marine environment.

In contrast to nearby Elafonisi, which attracts a large number of visitors, Prasonisi Artemis maintains a quieter and more untouched character. The absence of infrastructure and limited human presence contribute to preserving its natural balance.

Access is mainly by sea or, under certain conditions, from the shore, depending on weather and water levels. Despite its small size, it forms part of the unique natural setting of the Elafonisi area, known for its distinctive geomorphology and ecological significance.
