Agios Pavlos Beach is one of the most evocative and energetic destinations in southern Crete, located on the southern coast of the Rethymno region.
Geographically, it lies west of Armenopetra and Agia Galini, serving as the seaside settlement of the namesake village.
The landscape at Agios Pavlos is world-famous for its rare geological formations. The central beach is set within a closed, sheltered bay with crystal-clear, deep waters and fine pebbles. Right next to it, the impressive folded rock layers at Apoplystra and the famous Yoga Rocks create an otherworldly scenery that attracts geology and yoga enthusiasts from around the globe.
Access is easy via a paved road starting from the village of Saktouria, and the area features well-developed hospitality infrastructure. There are several accommodation options in the settlement, as well as traditional tavernas overlooking the bay.
Regarding organization, the main bay is partially organized, offering umbrellas and sunbeds while maintaining an atmosphere of absolute tranquility. For the more adventurous, just to the west lie the massive sand dunes of Alatsogremni beach, which offer an even wilder and more pristine experience of Cretan nature.
