Astrofegia Beach is one of the quietest and lesser-known treasures of southwestern Crete, offering an authentic escape experience.
Geographically, it is located on the shores of the Libyan Sea, west of Paleochora, in the Kountoura area, serving as one of the intermediate coastal spots along the shoreline towards Elafonisi.
The landscape is characterized by the typical wild beauty of the Cretan south, featuring pristine, crystal-clear waters and a shore that combines pebbles and sand. The atmosphere at Astrofegia remains exceptionally serene and relaxed, as the beach does not attract mass tourism, making it ideal for those seeking tranquility and contact with the natural environment away from crowds.
Access is very easy by road, as the beach is located near the provincial road connecting Paleochora with the western coasts of the prefecture. Regarding organization, Astrofegia is an unorganized beach, preserving its simple and virgin character, although basic infrastructure for visitors is available in the wider Kountoura area. It administratively belongs to the Chania Prefecture and is an excellent choice for a quiet swim in the deep waters of the Libyan Sea.
