The beach of Vai is one of the most beautiful you will encounter in the prefecture of Lassithi. It is located about 24 km east of the town of Sitia, at one of the easternmost points of the island.
It is a beach that has been photographed a lot with unique beauty and exceptional reputation, mainly because of the palm groove surrounding it. Both the trees and the wild landscape make up an exceptional spectacle.
Access
It is easy to access by a good condition road. To enter in the parking lot, before the beach, you will have to pay a fee. Unfortunately, except from this municipal parking, there is nowhere else to leave your vehicle.
The beach
The beach is sandy and the bottom of the sea has mainly stones, except from the beginning, where there is some sand. The temperature of the water is generally good and friendly to everyone, but its depth increases somewhat sharply. If you are a lover of the seabed and its observation, take your mask with you and take a dive. You will find the sight quite interesting. The waters are blue and crystal clear, despite the many visitors that you will meet swimming there during the summer. There are full facilities (café, sun loungers, umbrellas, tavern, shower etc) around the beach, making it very friendly for families as well.
Walk along the beach and take a look behind you every now and then, so you do not miss not even a single picture from your mind. Dive along the sea wherever you like (you will find many places) or swim it all to enjoy the clean, deep, cool and blue waters.
At the end of your swimming, take a stroll towards the observatory by climbing a few steps on the right as you enter on the beach in order to enjoy the truly splendid view of the beach and the forest that stretches out on your feet. Take many pictures and take two steps higher, going deeper into the mountain to enjoy the spectacle to your right as well as to your left.
