Gerani Beach is one of the quietest and most extensive shores of the Gulf of Chania, offering a serene environment for swimming.
Geographically, it is located on the northern coast of the prefecture, situated between Platanias and Maleme, forming the natural continuation of the region's vast sandy zone.
The landscape is characterized by a very long coastline with sand and fine pebbles, while the waters are clear and crystalline. As the beach is open to the sea, it is frequently affected by northern winds, making it refreshingly cool. The area maintains a milder character compared to neighboring busy resorts, offering plenty of space and tranquility, and in some parts of the coast, there are tamarisk trees providing natural shade.
Access is extremely easy via the Old National Road of Chania-Kissamos, which runs very close to the shore, while the Northern Road Axis of Crete is located a short distance to the south. In terms of organization, the beach features facilities with umbrellas, sunbeds, and lifeguard services in several parts; however, its large size allows visitors to easily find free sections for isolation.
