It was named Itanos after the ancient town Itanos. The beach is located 96 km from Agios Nikolaos, 25 km from Vai and 10 km from Palaikastro.
The main beach of Siteia is located at the west side of the city which is 68 km west of Agios Nikolaos.
Ligaria beach is located 23 kilometers northwest of Heraklion, in an enclosed bay that provides protection from winds. It is a wonderful beach with turquoise waters and white thick sand.
