Kalyvaki beach is a unique coastal destination located at the western edge of Almyros Bay, right next to the settlement of Georgioupoli.
Geographically, it is situated east of Chania, positioned between the mouth of the Almyros river and the northern coasts of Apokoronas.
The landscape features a protected sandy shore with crystal-clear waters, which are noticeably cooler than other beaches due to the rivers flowing into the area. Its position at the head of the bay makes it one of the most wind-sheltered shores in northern Crete, as it is protected from strong northern winds. The beach is surrounded by lush vegetation and wetlands, offering a serene natural backdrop.
Access is very easy via the road network connecting Georgioupoli with Apokoronas (Kalivon-Georgioupolis Provincial Road), and the beach is a short distance from the Chania-Rethymno National Road. Connection to the center of Georgioupoli is provided by a small bridge crossing the river.
In terms of organization, Kalyvaki offers infrastructure for swimmers, including umbrellas and sunbeds. Due to its shallow and calm waters, it is considered an ideal choice for families, providing a combination of safety, natural beauty, and easy accessibility.
