Kiani Akti Beach is an extensive and popular shore located east of Chania city, near the entrance of Souda Bay.
Geographically, it is situated between the areas of Kalami and Kalyves, positioned along the road axis connecting Chania and Rethymno.
The landscape is characterized by a long sandy beach with shallow, crystal-clear waters. One of the most unique natural features of the area is the mouth of the Koiliaris river, which flows into the sea at the eastern part of the beach, creating an important wetland and affecting the water temperature in that specific spot. The beach offers panoramic views of Souda Bay and the Itzedin Fortress.
Access is extremely easy via the Old National Road of Chania-Rethymno, and the area provides ample parking spaces close to the sand.
In terms of organization, Kiani Akti features all necessary infrastructure for visitors, including umbrellas and sunbeds. Due to its large size and the safety offered by its shallow waters, it is an ideal destination for families, as well as for those seeking an organized shore with easy access and natural beauty.
