Nea Chora Beach is the closest and most popular swimming option within the city of Chania.

Geographically, it is located on the western side of the city, starting shortly after the Venetian Harbor and extending along the traditional district of the same name to the mouth of the Kladissos River.

The landscape is characterized by a long and wide sandy shore with shallow, clear waters, making it ideal for families and those who prefer city convenience. The beach is relatively sheltered from the winds thanks to a series of rocky islets located a short distance offshore, usually providing calm seas.

Access is extremely simple, as one can reach it on foot from the city center within a few minutes, while the area is served by all urban infrastructures. In terms of organization, Nea Chora is fully equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, and lifeguard services.

The coastal road lining the beach is largely pedestrianized, making it one of the liveliest spots in Chania. The area features numerous accommodation options and is famous for its traditional character and close connection to local everyday life, offering an authentic feel of the city by the sea.
