Vathi Beach is one of the most impressive and "hidden" destinations in southern Crete, located west of Cape Lithino.

Geographically, it is situated north of the "Southernmost beach on Crete" and Gournia beach, forming a perfectly protected cove at the foothills of the Asterousia Mountains.

The main feature of the beach is its unique shape; the bay penetrates deep into the land, resembling a natural fjord. This geomorphology ensures that the waters remain almost always calm, regardless of the winds blowing in the Libyan Sea. The shore features fine sand and is surrounded by high, white cliffs that create an imposing backdrop.

Access to Vathi is demanding, as it requires traveling via a long and difficult dirt road starting from the village of Sivas or the Odigitria Monastery. Despite the challenging route, the beach is highly favored by those seeking seclusion and is a frequent refuge for leisure boats.

Regarding organization, Vathi remains largely unorganized, although there are a few basic facilities and some trees providing natural shade. It is a destination that preserves its authenticity, offering a unique experience of tranquility in one of the wildest and most beautiful spots on the island.
