Xerokampi Beach (also known as Xerokampia) is one of the most hidden and impressive treasures of Southern Crete, located in the Heraklion region, just west of Keratokampos and Kastri, right next to the famous Listis beach.
It is a pristine stretch of coastline characterized by its rugged natural beauty, with steep cliffs and unique geological formations creating a setting of absolute tranquility and seclusion. The beach features fine sand and small pebbles, while the crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea here are pristine, deepening relatively quickly, and offering a unique swimming experience.
Regarding travel information, Xerokampi is a completely unorganized beach, ideal for those seeking peace away from mass tourism and developed infrastructure. Access is via the coastal road connecting Kastri to Tsoutsouros, with the beach situated very close to the iconic Listis rock. The area is renowned for its serenity, and the seabed among the scattered rocks is perfect for snorkeling. Due to the lack of shade and amenities, visitors should come fully prepared with their own shade equipment, water, and food, and can easily combine their trip with a visit to the traditional tavernas in nearby Kastri for authentic Cretan flavors.
