The most populous city of the eastern-most prefecture of Crete, the fourth largest city in Crete and southern Greece, located 35 km south of Agios Nikolaos.

Ierapetra is 100 kilometers southeast of the city of Heraklion and 250 from the city of Chania.

It's one of the top attractions of the island because of the award-winning beaches.

The town of Ierapetra is currently the only urban center in the southern part of the island.

Beaches

Ierapetra and the surrounding area, has some of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in Crete. It has been awarded by the Association of Marine and Coastal Areas (EUCC), the International Prize for High Quality Beach.

  • East Beach

The Eastern beach of Ierapetra is the largest in the city, with one kilometer coast line! In most of the length of the beach there is a promenade above the beach.

  • South Beach

The beach is next to Fort Kales. It is an organized municipal beach.
