Krousonas is a small town 21 kilometres southwest of Heraklion and it is built 460 metres height on Psiloritis mountain.

The residents of Krousonas are more than 2.500 and they are mostly farmers who produce olive oil and currants.

This beautiful village with houses built on the cliffs of the mountain gives the opportunity to its visitors to enjoy the change of the scenery from smooth valleys to the wild beauty of Psiloritis mountain.

Krousona’s name comes from the word “koursos” (pirate) while some of the residents today use it to describe a quite and empty place.
