Amourgelles Dam is located in eastern Crete, within the Lasithi regional unit, near the settlement of Amourgelles and a short distance from Agios Nikolaos.

It is a small but important water management project, primarily serving irrigation needs in the area.

The reservoir formed by the dam collects water from the surrounding hilly and semi-mountainous terrain, supporting local agriculture. Its waters are used for irrigating crops, contributing to the agricultural productivity of the wider region.

Despite its relatively small size, the dam has also gained ecological value, as the presence of water attracts bird species and enhances biodiversity. Around the reservoir, lakeside vegetation has developed, creating a calm and natural landscape.

Amourgelles Dam is a typical example of a small reservoir in eastern Crete, combining practical use with natural beauty and offering an authentic glimpse of the Cretan countryside.
