The museum of Nikos Xylouris, the most famous lyra player of Crete, is located at the main square of Anogeia Village, at Rethymno.

The museum is at the house of Xylouris which has been specially formed by his sister Zouboulia, so the visitor can learn through pictures and relics, all about the life of Crete’s Archangel, as people call him.

Nikos Xylouris is considered one of the greatest Greek musicians, which is mainly responsible for keeping traditional Cretan music alive through the years. He is a symbol of resistance because his voice marked the hard years of dictatorship in Greece.
