Karfi is a nail-shaped Mountain top which is located at Lasithiotika mountains south of Krasi village.

The mountain top Karfi is known for accommodating one of the most important post-Minoan villages.

Originally the sacred top was located at Karfi during the middle Minoan times but later after the descendants of Dorians, the Minoans built a village to Karfi’s slopes in order to be protected from the invasions.

The Minoans kept their culture untouched there for almost 400 years after the conquest of Knossos.

Access to Karfi top is possible only by hiking through an 11 km long path of middle difficulty which starts from Krasi village passes through Karfi and exits at Lagou village at Lasithi plateau.
