Kournas Beach is one of the most popular and extensive sandy shores in northern Crete, located east of Georgioupoli and near the borders of the Chania and Rethymno prefectures.

Geographically, it stretches along Almyros Bay, forming the natural continuation of the coastline that includes Peristeras Beach.

The landscape is characterized by a wide and very long sandy beach with clear, shallow waters, making it ideal for families. The area surrounding the beach is flat and open, offering unobstructed views of the Cretan Sea. A unique natural feature of the area is the presence of small rivers and streams that flow into the sea, crossing the sandy expanse.

Access to the beach is extremely simple and fast, as it is located a very short distance from the Northern Road Axis of Crete (E90). Several roads lead from the national highway directly to the shore, where parking spaces are available for visitors.

In terms of organization, Kournas Beach is fully organized and features all necessary infrastructure, such as umbrellas, sunbeds, and lifeguard services. Due to its vast size, it hosts numerous dining spots, beach bars, and hotel units, offering visitors various options for recreation and accommodation right by the waves.
