Anogeia is a small town located almost 36 kilometres from Heraklion and at 738 metres height at the base of Psiloritis mountain.

Anogeia is considered to be one of the centres of Cretan culture. Its residents love their cultural heritage and also their traditions and that’s why they still speak their traditional dialect.

Nikos Ksilouris and Loudovikos ton Anogeion are both great greek traditional singers and also important examples of the great contribution that Anogeia have shown to the modern culture.

Residents are mainly farmers but they are also occupied with the traditional art of weaving often by using argalios (traditional weaving construction).
