Omalos plateau is located in southern Crete, within the Heraklion regional unit, in the wider area of Viannos.

It is a small and lesser-known plateau, distinct from the more famous Omalos Plateau in Chania.

Situated at a relatively lower altitude compared to Crete’s larger plateaus, Omalos of Viannos is surrounded by hilly and semi-mountainous terrain, forming a gentle and शांत natural landscape. The area has a strong rural character, with agricultural activity and livestock farming playing an important role.

The plateau is mainly used for cultivation, and its fertile soils support local agricultural production. At the same time, its peaceful and remote setting offers an authentic experience of the Cretan countryside, away from major tourist areas.

The landscape is characterized by low vegetation, small cultivated fields, and open views, forming part of a broader natural environment with ecological interest.

Omalos of Viannos Plateau is a typical example of a small rural plateau in Crete, combining natural tranquility with local agricultural use.
