Gazi is a town in the suburbs of Heraklion city which is mainly known for Ammoudara beach and it has almost 20.000 residents.

The people at Gazi are mostly farmers that produce olive oil and currants.

Archaiological findings of great importance have been found at the town of Gazi that are traced back to Minoan ages while some of its beautiful sights include the lake of Almyros, Ammoudara beach and Savathianon monastery.
